The relationship between good health and business success is a hot topic. From entrepreneurs to
corporate executives, business professionals recognize the value of a healthy workforce.
Success, however, starts at the top – in business and wellness. It takes a personal commitment
from busy executives to focus on their own good health, along with the health of their business.
Optimizing Good Health
National Geographic introduced its show, The Incredible Human Machine. A few years ago, the
Discovery Channel received an Emmy for its four-part series, Human Body: Pushing the Limits.
What those and other films recognize is the intricate marvel that is the human body.
Our heart beats 100,000 times a day, pumping blood along 60,000 miles of blood vessels. Our
brain is capable of processing information as fast as 260 miles per hour, while over 200 bones
and 600 muscles provide support. Is it any wonder we find the human body fascinating?
Like an interlocking puzzle, the human body is dependent on all the parts to make it whole. Ignore
one part, and you sacrifice the whole. For optimal longevity and health, we need an integrated
approach in taking care of our bodies. The happy result is both a personal and professional gain.
Taking Care of Business
Balancing business and personal needs takes its toll on most of us. We put our needs second
and stop listening to the messages our body sends us. It is very easy to do. By developing an
integrated approach to our health, we can get back on track by following a plan that takes care of
all the parts.
Business executives devote a great deal of time on developing the perfect business plan. That
same care should be used in creating an integrated plan for good health. Designing a plan that
works, identifies the missing piece of that puzzle. We know where to find it and how to use it. We
know the solution so the next time our life is stuck on autopilot, we can make the necessary
adjustments.
In a four-part series, we will look at the key parts of an integrated approach to good health,
including:
- Nutrition – the key to vitality, energy and longevity
- Fitness – keeping it simple and effective for a busy schedule
- Brain health – business success depends on it
- Skin care – the image of good health, inside and out
Good health and business can coexist. We simply need the right integrated approach to
balancing nutrition, fitness, brain health and skin care. When we feel good, we work better – and
there is something very satisfying about doing a job well. Achievement is something to celebrate
and let’s face it, winning feels great.
